March 2025 saw the installation of our joint exhibition 'Scientific Rambles' at the Silk Museum in Macclesfield. The exhibition featured four artists, creating work inspired by the intersection of Cheshire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire - interwoven with themes and ideas from J D Sainter's 'Scientific Rambles Around Macclesfield' journal, published in the mid 1800s. I wrote and recorded a number of pieces for the space, with three final recordings making it into the exhibition. Alongside this I produced a number of processed short films, from which I selected three stills to be hung, one of which 'Cloud' can be seen below. A listening bench was setup in the space, to encourage visitors to immerse themselves in the theme of our work, and a pair of headphones was also included to allow a more focused listening experience.
Thanks to everyone who helped make this exhibition possible as well as the Silk Museum for their support. We hope to install the pieces again in further locations, and will continue to work on this theme to create bodies of work together in the future. Find links to the other artists below.
